1. Product Overview

This is an industrial-grade American open-body eye-and-eye turnbuckle (rigging turnbuckle / turnbuckle body) with closed double-eye (Eye & Eye) end fittings at both ends. Nominal size is 1/4 inch with a working load limit (WLL) of 0.18 tons (180 kg). Unlike light-duty JIS turnbuckles used for low-load tensioning, this unit is built to US-standard high-strength rigging practice. Though compact at 1/4", its safe working capacity is significantly higher. Rotating the open center frame drives opposite-hand threaded rods to extend or retract together for precise straight-line tensioning of wire rope, chain or tie rods. Full-surface corrosion protection suits industrial tension systems, architectural cable bracing and medium-duty permanent tie-down.

2. Key Features & Design Highlights

  • American open-body frame: Classic open oval body with a clear window to inspect thread engagement on both rods—helps verify safe thread length during install and routine inspection.
  • Opposite-hand threads: Left and right internal threads in the frame—turn the body clockwise or counter-clockwise to tighten or loosen both ends simultaneously.
  • Eye & Eye closed ends: Forged fixed eyes at both ends for stable connections to shackles, quick links or wire rope ferrules; smooth bore reduces wear and resists accidental disengagement under sway or vibration.
  • 1/4" size, WLL 0.18T: Nominal 1/4" body with US-standard alloy or carbon steel and controlled heat treatment—delivers 180 kg WLL in a small footprint, well above typical light-duty turnbuckles of the same size.
  • Galvanized finish: Electro-galvanized or hot-dip zinc coating gives bright silver corrosion protection with even plating that preserves smooth thread engagement without binding.
  • High safety margin: Designed with US-standard safety factors (typically 4:1 or 5:1 minimum breaking ratio) to handle gust loads and sustained tension in outdoor service.

3. Primary Applications

  • Industrial wire rope and cable tension systems—plant guard nets, conveyor-side barriers and precision wire rope stays.
  • Outdoor shade sails, tensile membrane edges and architectural cable bracing on commercial and residential structures.
  • Stage truss guy lines, exhibition booth diagonal bracing and heavy outdoor banner perimeter tensioning.
  • Mid-size boat and yacht rail cable tuning, deck lashings and mast auxiliary stay adjustment (non primary lifting).

Safety Guidelines

  1. Not for heavy lifting—WLL is 0.18 ton only. Do not use as a crane hook terminal, overhead hoist assembly or manned lift component. Select larger US-standard turnbuckles for heavy lifting service.
  2. Maintain adequate thread engagement—keep at least about 1.5× thread diameter of rod inside the body when extended; never load with only a few threads engaged.
  3. Lubricate threads periodically in outdoor, coastal or chemical environments to prevent seizure and ensure future adjustment.
