1. Product Overview

This is a heavy industrial American high-strength D shackle (straight chain shackle / G-2150 bolt-type chain shackle) with a 7/8" nominal body size and a rated working load limit (WLL) of 6-1/2 tons (6.5 TON / 6500 kg). Unlike classic bow (anchor) shackles, this model uses a straight D-type narrow body for better alignment in single-direction pulls and reduced side sway. The locking system combines a hot-dip galvanized body with a forged alloy steel red load bolt, hex nut and safety cotter pin—a triple anti-loosening design built for long-term fixing, high-frequency vibration, harsh weather and heavy chain connections.

2. Key Features & Design Highlights

  • 7/8" straight body, 6.5T WLL: D-body nominal size is 7/8" (approx. 22.22 mm). The red high-strength bolt is typically one size larger (1", approx. 25.4 mm) for superior shear and bending strength. Clear body markings include WLL 6 1/2T, 7/8; CE marking can be arranged per order when required by your market. Breaking load typically reaches 4× or 6× WLL.
  • Bolt-nut-cotter pin triple safety: A smooth through-bolt replaces a threaded screw pin. After the hex nut is tightened, a stainless cotter pin is inserted through the bolt tail hole and spread—eliminating self-loosening from rope, chain or vibration during lifting or permanent fixing.
  • Straight D (chain) body: Narrower internal space than bow shackles—ideal for single large chain, master link or turnbuckle connections with minimal lateral movement, suited to straight, high-load tension and lifting.
  • Hot-dip galvanized body, red bolt: Dense silver zinc layer on the body resists rain, humidity and marine corrosion. The red-painted bolt and nut provide high-contrast visibility for field inspection.
  • Forged alloy steel: Drop-forged from high-strength alloy steel, quenched and tempered. Excellent fatigue and low-temperature toughness; under overload the steel tends to deform rather than snap brittle.

3. Primary Applications

  • Grade 80/100 chain sling terminations—aligning chain with hooks, master links or heavy lifting lugs in straight pull assemblies.
  • Long-term guy wires, wind turbine towers, telecom masts, bridge cables and steel space frames where cotter-pin lock-out is essential.
  • Mining haulage, port bulk cargo grabs and overhead crane systems under continuous vibration and shock.
  • Heavy recovery vehicles, military trucks and mining transport—straight towing and securement under severe pull and vibration.

Safety Guidelines

  1. Never omit the cotter pin—confirm it is fully inserted and legs spread before each use.
  2. D-type shackles are for straight, single-direction loading only—do not use for wide-angle multi-leg or converging pulls; use a bow shackle (G-2130 or G-209) instead.
  3. Do not weld, heat or modify—the heat treatment must not be altered.
