The G-209 screw pin bow shackle is one of the most requested items from overseas buyers sourcing rigging hardware in China. It is used for lifting, towing, temporary connections and field rigging where fast assembly matters. Below is a practical guide — not a substitute for your local safety rules, but a starting point for specification and sourcing.
Screw pin (G-209) vs bolt type (G-2130 / G-2150)
G-209 screw pin bow shackles — such as our 3/4" WLL 4-3/4T and 5/8" WLL 3-1/4T models — use a threaded pin that screws directly into the body. They are quick to connect and disconnect by hand or with a bar.
G-2130 / G-2150 bolt type shackles — see our G-2130 bow shackle and G-2150 dee shackle — use a bolt, nut and cotter pin. They are better for semi-permanent connections or where the pin must not loosen under vibration.
Rule of thumb: frequent change-over → G-209; long-term or vibrating load → bolt type.
Choosing body size and WLL
Match the shackle WLL to your working load with appropriate safety factor per your application standard. Common export sizes we produce include:
- 5/8" body, WLL 3-1/4T — light industrial and recovery accessories
- 3/4" body, WLL 4-3/4T — general lifting and rigging
- 7/8" body, WLL 6-1/2T — heavier mobile crane and port work
Bow (anchor) shackles offer more internal clearance than dee (chain) shackles — useful when connecting multiple slings or hooks.
Finish and marking
Hot-dip galvanizing is standard for outdoor and marine exposure. We also supply colour-finished pins or bodies for identification — see the red G-209 3/4" as an example. Body markings typically show size and WLL; CE marking can be arranged per order when required by your market.
